If I had a penny for every time someone told me they hate having their photo taken, I’d be a rich woman.
But if you run a business, your photos can really elevate your marketing – and if you’re putting them off, or not marketing much, because you don’t want to be in your own images, then you have a problem on your hands.
Fortunately, I’m here to help!
Professional photos can be natural and unposed
Most people, when they think of business photography, will think of proper corporate headshots – suited, booted & more often than not unsmiling photos of 80-odd people with exactly the same plain white background.
My brand photography couldn’t be more different! If you run a small business, there’s a good chance you love what you do – and if you love it, you want that love & your personality to shine through to your potential clients.
Photos don’t have to be formal or stuffy to be professional – and they don’t have to be corporate to raise your business profile.
Most of your session will be capturing you at work, doing your thing, rather than posed portraits – so you don’t even have to look at the camera if you don’t want to, and your photos will still be glorious. (and yes, this is still the case even if your business is “doing”, like coaching, rather than making a thing!)
Putting you at ease
… is my superpower, and one I use with wild abandon! I understand having your photo taken can be terrifying, and most people don’t love it – but I promise I’ll make it painless and fun.
Detailed planning goes into every shoot booked with me, which means you know what you’re going to be doing, wearing & creating on the day. And there’s still time for spontaneous silliness – laughing shots are my favourite, even if you don’t use them for your business, you feel better after a good giggle!
You can use your clients
If you are a coach, a therapist, an advisor, a personal trainer, or have any kind of business which involves speaking to clients, then you can use them in your photos too – after all, they’re part of your business!
And if you start with these, then you can ease into the session without being the only one in the spotlight. Win win!
Business photos which show your strengths (and that you’re human)
Think about the last time you bought something from an independent business. What made you choose them over the countless others who offer similar services? Was it their experience, their customer service, their expertise in their field?
Brilliant brand photography will show all of these off without being pretentious or annoying – and most importantly, I promise you’ll enjoy the process with me.
Don’t forget your props
Not all of your photos need to include you – I will always make sure to get some shots of your surroundings, your environment, and the things you use in your business – from laptops to oracle cards, and armchairs to microphones.
These photos will give you variety in your marketing, and help to establish who you are, what you do, and what you stand for – without you actually having to be in shot.
Sounds fab but I’m still a bit nervous – what do I do next?
Choose the right photographer, and get to know them before your shoot! My sessions include planning time together, plus the Brand Clarity Workbook which will help you bring all your thoughts and messages about your business into clear, sharp focus.
It’s not a huge time commitment, but those chats we have before your shoot means we already have a connection before I arrive on the day and rearrange your entire workspace for your photos 🙂
Want to see if we click? You can book a free virtual cuppa with me any time – just to have a chat and explore possibilities for you & your business – I’d love to hear your story.
